Join CIU:

In order to apply, CIU needs to know if the institution is a member of the collective full member in its country (national rectors’ conference) and whether the institution would like to apply for individual full or associate membership. After receiving this information CIU will send the application form and more information about the application procedure.

Applicant universities need a letter of recommendation from the president of the collective full member in their country. If there is no national rectors’ conference or the national rectors’ conference is not a member of CIU, applicant universities need letters of recommendation from anyone of CIU full members from anyone of the countries.

All applications are first reviewed by the membership committee and then passed on to the CIU council for a final decision.

CIU Membership application process steps are:

  • Please read carefully the admission eligibility / criteria to check if your institution is eligible for our membership
  • Fill in and return the application form duly completed to our dedicated email address
  • The applications are reviewed at least once a month. If retained for membership, you will receive an acceptance letter from the CIU office explaining the formalities to finalize membership
  • Payment of the annual membership fees
  • Signing of CIU letter of commitment on official institutional letterhead.
